All my life, I suffered from fever blisters ... cold sores ... canker sores ... a catch-all for PAINFUL INSIDE-AND-OUTSIDE-THE-MOUTH eruptions. [And, yes, I realize that fever blisters/cold sores are herpes simplex and different from canker sores...] I tried expensive cure-alls but always returned to Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment. It works! It accelerates healing and, when applied early, cuts the extent and duration of an eruption down to a few prickly days as opposed to a week or more of pain and, at times, unsightly sores. Especially when the eruption is on the outside of the mouth, you MUST apply the ointment as soon as you feel a tickly-tingle EVEN BEFORE YOU SEE ANYTHING. Don't wait. Then, reapply as often as you think of it (as often as possible).
Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment is an outstanding (and, for me, essential) product.
