Advil Liqui-Gels-Ibuprofen Pain Reliever, 240ct

I don't know what I would do without Advil Gel Caps. These little babies are lifesavers when I get a bad headache. Due to having Scoliosis I get frequent headaches and backaches. Sometimes they get so bad that my head is pounding and can't do anything buy lie down until they are gone. The great thing about the Advil Gel Caps is that they dissolve and go to work quickly. They seem to work much quicker than other over the counter pain relief medicines that I have tried. I would recommend Advil gel caps to anyone who doesn't have serious stomach issues and wants quick pain relief.

Mucinex Kids Expectorant, Liquid Grape 4 fl oz

Mucinex for Kids is an expectorant to be used when a child has a cough. The Active ingredient in Mucinex is Guaifenesin (expectorant).

My son had a cough and his Doctor recommended this product every four hours for his symptoms. I used the adult version (a tablet) of this product with great success. It really helped get a good nights sleep.

I gave my son his first dose and after he drank it down he complained. He said it tastes disgusting. I told him to drink water to get the taste out of his mouth. Four hours later, it was time for another dose. He did not want to take it but gave in.

At this point, I wanted to see how bad it really did taste. UGH!!! What a mistake that was. The artificial grape flavor is so overwhelming, and it is disgustingly sweet. I put the ole readers on and read those tiny little words on the back of the bottle.

There are not one, but two different dyes added, flavor and sugar.

These products are for kids. Why do they have to add all the extra dyes and sugars. My child is not sensitive to dyes or sugar, but he now refuses to take this product because of the taste.

I would not make him continue taking Mucinex for Kids. After a few unsuccessful tries, he was finally able to swallow the tablet version down.

While the product does work really well, I have a hard time recommending it because of the additives. I will advise you to read the label carefully before administering it to your child, or ask your physician for a prescription for a pill.

NeilMed's Sinus Rinse NasaFlo Neti Pot 8 oz (240 ml)

Used for 2 weeks. Can't use it if you have totally blocked sinus but can be used if you feel cold or allergies coming and you have some airflow. Strange to use at first. Solution comes in through one nostril, rinses sinus cavity, goes out the other nostril. Can see on youtube people demonstrating its use. Little kids don't seem to have problems. Measured out 8 oz. distilled water, microwave 15 seconds, and swirled the water for a few seconds to even the temperature out. Used the included packets and the formula works well. You can make your own but be sure to use pure salt (kosher or pickle) instead of table salt. To make an isotonic (equal to body salinity) solution, use about 1/4 tsp salt, tiny pinch of baking soda, 8 oz of lukewarm distilled water. People on the Internet use a lot of different recipes but this one works for me.

Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel, 1.5-Ounce Tubes (Pack of 3)

I'm a big girl, and I honestly love this stuff. Before I came across it, I was using baby powder. While baby powder prevents the chafing, it creates too much dust. Further, my skin where I put the powder every day for years became extremely dry, red, and flaky.

Since these past couple of weeks that I've been using Monistat Miracle Gel (my own name for it - it's really a miracle for me), I've become a very happy, more confident woman. I'm no longer self-conscious about powder being in certain places (talk about ruining a mood - baby powder is not a sexy smell! lol), and the skin now looks like regular, healthy skin. I am no longer dried out and red. The gel lasts all day long and all night - I haven't had to reapply it even once! This truly is a gift.

That being said, let's make a push for Monistat to trash their current packaging and put it in bigger tubes!!! Who's with me?? :-D

Tec Labs StaphAseptic First Aid Gel

Getting over an abscess infected with MRSA required a stronger form of antiseptic for preventative measure, to decrease the likelihood of future MRSA infections. This product, purchased here for that purpose works very well as a first aid antibiotic.

I have been using it for about a month now on any breaks of skin near the previously infected area and anything more than minuscule elsewhere on the body. I've found the gel dries and stays on the skin better than any other antiseptics I've tried (neosporin, polysporin, etc.), making a protective barrier. Additionally, wounds on which I've used this product seem to heal a bit faster and cleaner (less visible early after) than anything else I've used. I feel much safer from repeat MRSA infection using StaphAseptic (corny as the name may be...). I'm glad I got this stuff.

Visine-A Bottle .5 Ounce

I suffer from seasonal allergies (hay fever) and the worst part is the itchy eyes, which would make me want to pull out my own eyes. Visine-A is an eyedrop that contains antihistamine and can thus prevent as well as reduce the itch. Occasionally, if you use too much (max. of two drops per eye at a time), you'll end up getting these nasty crystal deposits in your eyes, but it's nothing water can't wash off. Visine-A does not completely stop the itching at the height of each pollen season, but it does help this hay fever sufferer a lot. I buy a fresh bottle each year because my eyes are imporatnt to me.

Crest 3D White Advanced Vivid Whitestrips, 14-Count Boxes (Packaging may vary)

As a dentist, I am often asked by patients and friends where to start in terms of selecting a bleaching product. Since Crest produces some very good products, I generally steer them to Crest products. However, there are a multitude of Crest bleaching products to select from, so where does one begin? Here is my advice in selecting and using Crest Bleaching products:

First, let's begin with the Crest Whitestrips Advanced Seal. This product was introduced in February, 2009. It contains a 10% hydrogen peroxide gel that is attached to a clear strip (like a band-aid) that wraps around the teeth. The primary advantage to this system is that the strip adheres to the teeth better than all the previous whitestrip products. In fact, some users report that it can be somewhat difficult to remove. However, having a strip that adheres to the teeth allows the user to do other things (remain active) while they bleach - work-out, shop, drive, talk, even drink fluids. The previous versions instructed the user to bleach for 30 minutes while stationary so the strip would not be displaced. In terms of bleaching effectiveness, Advanced Seal is equivalent to Crest Premium, Premium-Plus, and Pro Effects (as they all have a 10% hydrogen peroxide gel).

A brief review of the other Crest bleaching products is in order to understand the options available. Crest White Strips come in as many as 7 different formulations. This can be very confusing for the consumer! Please remember the key difference in all these products is the strength of the hydrogen peroxide gel, and of course the price. The higher the dose of hydrogen peroxide, the faster the bleaching result, and the most costly as well. Here is a quick summary of the products:

1. Crest White Strips Classic (6% hydrogen peroxide, 14-day treatment).
2. Crest White Strips Premium (10% hydrogen peroxide, 7-day treatment).
3. Crest White Strips Premium Plus (10% hydrogen peroxide, and has 12 additional strips).
4. Crest Pro Effects (10% hydrogen peroxide, 10-day treatment).
5. Crest Advanced Seal (10% hydrogen peroxide, 10-day treatment).
6. Daily Whitening Multicare (6% hydrogen peroxide, 5-minutes/day, 6-week supply)
7. Daily Whitening with Tartar Protection (6% hydrogen peroxide, 5-minutes/day, has a chemical that discourages tartar from attaching to the teeth, 38 upper and lower strips)

In using any of the Crest bleaching products, please follow the specified instructions that come with each product.

1. For most products, the instructions will direct you to bleach twice a day for 30-minutes a time. The inner part of the strip has a chemical called hydrogen peroxide that causes the stains inside your teeth to be oxidized and turn white. Applying the strips has a small learning curve as you will probably bend or fold a couple of them before you get the technique down.

2. Leave the strips on for the time recommended in the instructions and do not overbleach your teeth, as this can lead to sensitivity. Crest bleaching products will generally work for most people, especially younger people and those with yellow stains.

Potential Disadvantages to Consider

1. Hydrogen Peroxide can "burn" your gums. If you notice a burning sensation when you use the product, it is the chemical oxidizing (or burning) your gums (it will turn them white with a minor chemical burn). Depending on how severe the burning is, it may cause you to want to stop the treatment. It is OK to stop the treatment for a day or two to let the gums heal. Once they are healed, resume treatment with the White Strips. Try to not get the strip too far up on your gums.

2. Your teeth may become senstiive during the treatment time. Try to tolerate the sensitivity if it is mild, but if more severe, take a day or two off to let the teeth settle down and then pick up where you left off. You may notice much more sensitivity to cold water, ice cream, etc. The peroxide causes a revesible inflamation of the inner pulp, or nerve center of the tooth and makes the teeth very sensitive to biting or cold drinks or foods. If your teeth become too sensitive, back off on the strips until the sensitivity is gone before resuming bleaching.

3. The strips only cover your front teeth, so only your front teeth will bleach. You may notice the distinct difference between the back (unbleached) teeth and the front (bleached) teeth. Since most people notice the front 6 teeth anyway, this is not a big deal. However, if you have a wide toothy smile, you may want to have a dentist make you a tray that will hold the chemical on the back teeth to whiten them too.

4. The bleaching effect works best on yellow stains. If your stains are due to tetracycline (brownish grey stains in a band on your teeth, your best bet is to have a dentist whiten your teeth in the office for two sessions and then use White Strips to continue the bleaching process.

Crest White Strips work for the vast majority of people. Younger people with yellow stains seem to respond better than older people or those with gray stains. If you have severely stained teeth, especially those with tetracycline (an antibiotic) stain, the strips may not work well for you.

If you are not satisfied with the results and still want whiter teeth, you can then see your dentist for a more concentrated in-office form of bleaching. Crest offers a product called "Crest Whitestrips Supreme" through dental offices that can be used at home. It is a 14% hydrogen peroxide gel in a thinner strip. It is used for 30 minutes once or twice a day for 3 weeks.

EatSmart™ Precision Digital Bathroom Scale w/ Extra Large Backlit 3.5" Display and "Step-On" Technology

I changed my review from a 1 to a 5...here's why I am impressed. First, I had a Tanita scale; it told me my weight, body fat, water weight, bone weight, if my toe nails needed to be cut, etc. However, I could not read the display and as executive/non-athlete I did not need all this information. When that scale died, I went looking for a good solid simple scale. I liked the way this scale looked and the reviews on Amazon were good. Plus, the price was great. I got it right away, and it was great. Looked good, easy to read, and I liked the 0.2 denominations. However, unfortunately it stopped working after two weeks. I went to return it on Amazon and posted a disappointing review. Then the most amazing thing happened...this really happened...about an hour after I posted my review, I was contacted by the company. They read my review and apologized that my unit was not operating the way that it was supposed, discussed their high quality control and that this should not have happened, and then they sent me a replacement right away. THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They are family run operation that prides themselves on customer service and providing people with a quality product. THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS! There are so few of these good companies left. I was very impressed. I am a very happy customer again and will buy other products from this company!! I hope you will too.

Philips Sonicare E-Series Replacement Brush Head

Spend $22.50 a year and save $10,000? How does that work? Well, a couple of my close relatives have spent well over $10,000 each having their teeth and gums repaired. If you've had periodontal work or had root canal, implants, crowns or bridges done, you know that figure is not an exaggeration, and you're lucky if your insurance covers even a little bit of it. Having seen my relatives go through that, I've decided that as I get older, I want to spend my money on vacations and real estate, and not on painful dental procedures.

That's why the Sonicare is the most frugal product I've bought. I too have had some costly dental work, and I'm determined to keep my fixed-up choppers in tip-top condition. This toothbrush is amazing. One thing very few people note about the Sonicare is that it not only cleans your teeth beautifully, it also keeps your gums in great shape, and that may be even more valuable. Here's the best testimonial to the Sonicare: I recently had braces for a few years. I mentioned to my orthodontist that I'd graduated from high school in 1983, and she said, "You're not that old." "Yes, I'm 40," I said. She actually checked my chart! "Well, your teeth and gums look like they belong to someone in their 20s!" she concluded.

Please invest wisely and don't skimp on dental care. I've had other electric toothbrushes (Oral B) and tried every kind of tooth cleaning brush, powder, and gimmick you can imagine. This is the one I've used for the last 5 years (I used the earlier Sonicare model for about 5 years before that), and this is the one I'm sticking with. My annual checkups confirm I've been making the right choice.

Incidentally (inci "dental" ly?), Amazon's price on these heads is excellent -- much cheaper than my local pharmacies. A two-pack will last a year, since these heads wear out like clockwork at about 6 months. That works out to a little over $1.85 a month. Heck, you could spend that on regular toothbrushes!

Alli (60mg)

I've been taking this product for two years now. It was prescribed by my doctor after I stopped smoking and gained quite a bit of weight. I lost 60 pounds but also dieted vigorously and exercised regularly at the gym on the treadmill for 35 minutes. Oily discharge sometimes? you bet, but only when I ate meals with a high fat content. Couple bits of advice: if you feel like you need to fart, don't. You can't be sure of what will come out. Restrain yourself until you get to a toilet, just in case. Also, not only fried chicken and fried food have fat. Any kind of red meat has fat content. Rule of thumb for me is if calories from fat are high, I take a pill with the meal. This product is a lifesaver but it only works with diet and exercise.

100% Whey Protein - Gold Standard

What is it? A big jug of protein powder! In fact, you get over 5 lbs!

Okay, you know its protein, and the label says "Whey"- but what exactly is whey? Well, whey, or milk plasma, is the liquid remaining after milk has been curdled and strained. Most of us know that milk has protein in it, so the stuff in the big black jug here is essentially a milk protein.

So what's the big deal about whey protein? Well, supposedly whey has the ability to be digested quickly, which allows the protein to become available very quickly. Most people use it after workouts to help increase the levels of amino acids in the blood, which are taken up by the muscles to help repair and rebuild them.

As you can tell, people who are physically active are probably going to need this stuff the most. Physical activity normally breaks down the tissues of the body as you use it, and since protein is the building blocks of your tissues, well, lots of physical activity equals higher protein needs. How much more protein athletes need above and beyond sedentary people is a matter of controversy- as is the protein requirements of bodybuilders. However please keep in mind that high protein intake can be hard on your kidneys, because they're the organ that has to deal with this stuff the most, so if you have any kind of kidney issues (i.e. your creatinine is sky high), it'd be best to check with a doc before ingesting huge quantities of protein.

On to the specifics of this particular protein powder. To use it, you simply mix it with water, or any liquid for that matter- then throw it down the hatch. Does it taste good? Well, some people like it and some people don't- me telling you that I like it won't mean much in this case.

Anyway, when all is said and done, this is a decent source of protein for people who don't have time to eat huge chunks of meat, large quantities of eggs, or drink gallons of milk. At 24 grams of protein a serving, this product packs a whallop that can go a long way to help make healthy tissue stronger, or injured tissue healthy. Also recommend Treat Your Own Tennis Elbow if tendinitis interferes with your workouts or activities.
